Where to Eat in Page, Arizona

Here is the good news most visitors never figure out. You do not have to eat at the highway chains, and you barely have to drive. Some of the best food in Page is a three to five minute walk from downtown. Here are the six spots we send guests to, starting with the one that put Page on the national map.

You can walk to most of it

From the middle of town, four of these are a short stroll and two are a quick drive. That is the whole pitch for staying downtown: you finish a day in the canyon, park the car, and walk to dinner.

BirdHouse (about a 4 minute walk)

Start here. BirdHouse is fried chicken, and it is very good fried chicken. Eddie Chu opened it in 2018 after a trip to Antelope Canyon, when he realized a town full of hungry hikers had nowhere good to get fried chicken. He had trained as a chef in LA and cooked all over, and he built the place around Georgia-style recipes with a few Asian and Hawaiian touches in the sides. The chicken comes three ways: Honey Buttermilk, Spicy, and the Original Bird House, all cooked the old way over a wood-fired stove.

The gamble worked. In 2025, BirdHouse landed at number 7 on Yelp's list of the 50 best fried chicken spots in the entire country, the year after Yelp named it the best fried chicken in Arizona. For a small restaurant on the edge of the Navajo Nation, that is a genuinely big deal, and it has become one of the most-loved spots in town.

One insider tip: ask for the Eddie special. It is an off-menu order that regulars know by name, and now you do too. BirdHouse is open Monday through Saturday, 11:30am to 9pm, and closed on Sunday. Small-town hours can shift with the season, so check before a special trip.

Grand Canyon Brewery and Distillery (about a 3 minute walk)

Right next door, in a converted old fire station with the garage doors still on it, this is your beer-and-a-bite spot. Twenty taps of Grand Canyon Brewing's Arizona beer, plus craft cocktails made from their own distillery spirits, and solid pub food to go with it. It is the easy answer after a sunset at Horseshoe Bend. Open until 9 Thursday through Saturday, and until 8:30 the rest of the week.

Rustic Thistle (about a 4 minute walk)

Southern cooking, done generously. Shrimp and grits, biscuits and gravy, and Navajo tacos, in portions that assume you spent the day hiking. This is a great breakfast or comfort-food stop, and the Navajo tacos are a good way to try the regional dish without leaving downtown. Their posted hours vary by day, so check before you walk over.

Dam Bar and Grille (about a 5 minute walk)

The sit-down dinner spot. A big warehouse space built to look like the inside of Glen Canyon Dam, serving steaks, seafood, and pasta since 1996. Good for a group, a bigger appetite, or a night when you want a real table and a full menu.

Stay Grounded (about a 15 minute walk)

The best coffee in Page comes out of a truck. Stay Grounded is run by three Diné women from LeChee: sisters Calista and Selina Tsinnijinnie and their longtime friend Shannon Black. The turtle on the cup is the point, they say, because turtles stay low to the ground and know where they came from.

One honest caveat, because it decides whether you get coffee. All three have full-time jobs and run the truck around them, so it leans heavily to weekends and its hours move. Check their Instagram before you count on it for a 5 a.m. canyon morning. When it is open, this is your coffee.

The Rainbow Room (about a 10 minute drive)

For a splurge or a special night, drive out to the Rainbow Room at the Lake Powell Resort on Wahweap Marina. Floor-to-ceiling windows over the water, and a sunset dinner you will remember. It runs April 1 to October 31 and closes November through March, so it is a warmer-months treat. It serves breakfast from 6 a.m. and dinner from 5 p.m., with no lunch service, so time it accordingly.

What to drink

Beyond the taps and cocktails at Grand Canyon Brewery, keep an eye out for prickly pear drinks around town. Prickly pear margaritas and lemonades are a regional favorite, made from the fruit of the desert cactus, and they are a fun, only-in-the-Southwest thing to try while you are here.

Eat around your tour schedule, not against it

The tip nobody tells first-timers: canyon tours and Horseshoe Bend sunrises start early, and small-town kitchens keep small-town hours. So plan your food around your day. For an early tour, grab coffee and something portable the night before, or catch Stay Grounded if it is running that morning. Remember the Rainbow Room is closed November through March, and small-town hours can move with the season. And if you are heading out to Lake Powell for the day, pack a cooler. Page has a full grocery store, and every room at The Wesley has a mini-fridge, so you can keep breakfast and cold drinks in the room before a sunrise start.
