Outdoor Market on Elm: Saturday, August 8 and Saturday, August 22, 10 AM to 3 PM. Page's downtown market runs the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month. Local makers, food, and the good kind of small-town people-watching, one street over from most of the town's restaurants. This is the single best place to put money directly into the hands of the people who make Page worth visiting. Come hungry, leave with things you didn't plan on.
America's 250th summer events. The city is running a series of events for the national semiquincentennial through the summer. Check the City of Page events calendar for August dates before you come.
Stargazing at Horseshoe Bend. The city hosted an evening stargazing event at the overlook in July, and Page's dark skies deserve the trip any clear night. Watch the city calendar for an August edition.
Looking ahead: the Page Balloon Regatta is November 5 to 8, 2026. Hot air balloons over red rock. If you're a planner, this is the weekend to book early. Rooms in town genuinely sell out.
August is monsoon season. Here's what that actually means.
Afternoon thunderstorms roll through the region in late summer, and they matter more here than most places:
Slot canyon tours can be cancelled on short notice. Antelope Canyon closes when there's flash flood risk anywhere upstream, even under blue skies in Page. It's the right call every time. Build a backup afternoon into your plan and treat a cancelled tour as the canyon doing its job.
Mornings are your friend. Storms build in the afternoon. Book morning tour slots in August and you'll dodge most weather drama.
The light gets spectacular. Monsoon clouds at sunset over Lake Powell are the best free show of the year. Photographers, this is your month.
Lake Powell check
Summer water levels change what's open at the marinas and beaches year to year, so check conditions when you arrive rather than trusting last year's blog posts (including, eventually, this one). The Wahweap overlook works no matter what the lake is doing.
Meanwhile, at The Wesley
New rooms keep coming online all summer as the renovation moves building by building. The newest finished rooms went live this month, and our Grand Opening is set for September 25, 2026, when the whole property, common spaces included, is done.
If you're coming through in August: book direct for our best rate, and call us at (928) 612-3300 if a monsoon shuffles your tour times. Rebooking around weather is basically a local sport, and we're good at it.
